Signs that You Need a New Roof
1. Cracked or crumbling shingles
If you notice a great number of cracked shingles, or you see remnants of shingles in your gutters are around your home, then it’s a sure sign that you need a new roof – or at the very least some roof repair.
2. Missing shingles
Often times, foul weather such as a big rain storm can reveal weaknesses in your roof. Missing shingles present vulnerable spots, making it more likely for you to experience leaks and other problems. It’s important to get missing shingles replaced ASAP by a professional roofer.
3. Curled shingles
Your shingles will start to warp and curl as they are exposed to the sun’s rays year after year. This is just something you cannot avoid. Curled or misshapen shingles can be a sign that your roof has reached the end of its life, or that your shingles are somehow defective.
4. Exposed roof valleys
Roof valleys, or areas where two sections of roof intersect, are prime spots for leaks to develop – especially if they are missing shingles.
5. Your roof is more than 25 years old
The typical life expectancy of a roof is 20-25 years, so if yours is that old or older, you should at the very least have it inspected by a professional.
